Parents are completely involved on some level with their children at Lilschuz due to the children engage and learn more effectively when parents participate. Parents are encouraged to engage a few times a week either swinging by at lunch, maybe read to your child at drop off or nap time, anything to help with implementing goals to our children.
All care givers at Lilschuz have a BACKGROUND check and emotional ready to work with children on their level. We all have the helpful skills to help children with the stress of attachment and separation with their home care givers. We have a history of schooling and are ready to handle any situation with children at any time. We have knowledge of all sorts of cultures and social emotional differences. We want your child to feel they are at their extended home not college. We are open to any suggestions from parents. We do incorporate holidays and celebrations at Lilschuz at this time we do not have a religious affiliate.
When children are developmentally ready, they will choose activities and experiences that they can accomplish. We offer all of those activities and more at Lilschuz. We have a very nurturing and protective environment. We prepare children for life, not just the next phase of education.
Meet Our Teachers
I have worked with children for the last 8 years. Working everywhere from Head Start, private centers, as well as caring for my family's children. I have an AS degree from Columbia College. I love spending every moment I can with my little girl Carroll. From going to the zoo to skiing. I love my job and Love working in the network of families. I have lived in Calaveras County for 38 years and currently reside in Murphy's. I attended Bret Harte, Michelson, and Mark Twain schools. I love living in a small town and raising my daughter here in the same place I grew up.
The staff and children know me as Teacher Oli. I have lived in Calaveras County for almost three years. I was born and raised in San Joaquin County. I have six beautiful children of my own: two girls and four boys between the ages of 2 & 26 with two wonderful grand-boy's ages 1 & 2. Four of my children are my own and two are foster children. When I get time off work, I enjoy going to amusement parks, fairs, parks, or small road trips with my grand-kids and family.
I have 22 years' of experience working with children. I attended San Joaquin Delta College and followed with Ashford University. My emphasis has always been early childhood education. Prior to joining Lilschuz Footsteps Preschool, I was employed by San Joaquin Head Start for fourteen years. I have the passion to work with children and enjoy planning, challenging, and experimenting, to expand the children's minds.
I am honored to be a part of Lilschuz Footsteps Preschool Team. I especially enjoy working alongside the Director and Teachers who have just as much enthusiasm, patience, and dedication as I do in caring for all the children along with their family's needs and expectations!
Brud Andrew Kerstan
My name is Brud Andrew Kerstan. I come from a family of educators; my grandma and great-grandma were both teachers for example. My teaching experience ranges from 2.5 years substituting for Head Start to over a year teaching at Columbia Junior College Child Care Center. The primary age group I work with is preschoolers ages 3-5. I believe that children learn through interacting with the world around them, which is why I strive to create open ended activities such as; bringing an animal into the classroom in order to allow the children’s engagement of their senses. My goal in educating children is to so a seed, and appreciation for the sake of learning
My name is Nicole Lock and I have worked in the child care field for the past eight years. Most of my experience working with children, has come about through my work in afterschool programs located in the bay area. I have two children of my own, ages two and five. I have accumulated enough units for my Associate Teacher Permit and plan on furthering my education to reach my goal of opening a daycare in my own home. In my free time I enjoy playing with my kids, going on walks, gardening, fishing, and camping with my husband and family.
